A restaurant can be excellent at 19:00 and useless at 13:00. These 10 Japanese lunch options have a published midday service, with the days, final lunch time and food format checked before they make the list.

Start earliest at Sticks'n'Sushi Nansensgade at 11:00. Slurp opens both ramen rooms at 11:30 every day, with Nansensgade serving lunch to 14:45 and Borgergade to 15:00, both without reservations. For a short weekday set lunch, Damindra serves bento and omakase from 12:15 to 14:00, while Selfish runs sushi sets and chirashi from 12:00 to 15:00. Restaurant Tokyo is the Thursday-to-Saturday choice for bowls, curry or onigiri, and Admiralgade 26 keeps its Japanese choushoku to Saturday.
The lunch clock changes the shortlist. Several of Copenhagen's most written-about Japanese counters open only for dinner, while other dining rooms compress their daytime menu into two or three hours. Arriving at 14:35 can mean a bowl, a full all-day sushi menu, or a kitchen that stopped taking lunch orders five minutes earlier.
Start with the food you want, then use the day and the lunch cutoff to narrow the choice. Copenhagen's midday options include sushi sets, ramen, bento, rice bowls, a shared breakfast-style meal and a longer Japanese-Italian menu.
Opening hours can change on holidays or for private events, so check the venue on the day if you plan to arrive close to the final lunch order.
Slurp opened on Nansensgade in 2017 under chef Philipp Inreiter, after kitchens at Noma and Relæ in Copenhagen and RyuGin in Tokyo. We make ramen from slow broths and noodles cut each morning with Bornholm-milled flour. Our Nansensgade room has 22 seats; Borgergade, open since January 2025, has 36. Neither room takes reservations.
We serve lunch at Nansensgade from 11:30 to 14:45 and at Borgergade from 11:30 to 15:00 every day. At both rooms, we serve shoyu with chicken broth, pork neck, egg and mushroom paste; shio with chicken, smoked mackerel and seafood broth; and a mushroom and celeriac veggie bowl that can be made vegan without the egg. Borgergade gives you fifteen extra minutes and more seats, but the menu and walk-in rule are the same core decision. After those lunch windows, both rooms close before dinner service.

Restaurant Tokyo on Vesterbrogade 77 opens for lunch Thursday to Saturday from 12:00 to 15:00, with the kitchen closing at 14:30. That makes 14:30 the safe arrival limit. The lunch list includes gyuudon beef bowl, karaagedon chicken bowl, vegetarian curry rice, katsu curry, a katsu sandwich and several onigiri. This is the clearest pick when you want a cooked Japanese lunch rather than sushi or a long tasting sequence.
Damindra, now at Sankt Annæ Plads 16, serves lunch from 12:15 to 14:00 Tuesday to Saturday. It is closed Sunday and Monday, and recommends a reservation. The bento combines the chef's choice of salad, tempura and accompaniments. The lunch-only à la carte runs through sashimi, nigiri, uramaki and futomaki, while the omakase brings those forms into a set chosen by the kitchen.
Selfish on Elmegade is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12:00, with its dedicated lunch menu running to 15:00. The lunch sets scale from seven to thirteen pieces, and the vegetarian set is listed separately. The bara chirashi is marinated fish over sushi rice; the wider menu adds salmon, tuna, shrimp and vegetable maki, plus gyoza and yakitori. This is a concise lunch with clear portion sizes, not an all-day tasting menu.
Admiralgade 26 serves choushoku on Saturday from 11:30 to 14:00. It is a breakfast served at lunch, built around rice, miso soup and egg with greens and fish for the table. This is the narrowest service in the guide and the easiest one to miss by assuming it runs all week. Choose it for the shared, paced format and only when Saturday already fits your plan.
The original Sticks'n'Sushi room at Nansensgade 59 opens its kitchen at 11:00 every day. The kitchen runs to 21:30 Sunday to Thursday and 22:00 Friday and Saturday, so lunch is part of one long service rather than a short sitting. The menu combines sushi with grilled sticks, and tables can be booked. It works when 11:00 matters, or when a group wants a table rather than a queue or a brief set-lunch window.
Restaurant Levi on Ny Østergade serves lunch Monday to Saturday from 12:00 to 15:00. Its crossover brings Italian food and Japanese ingredients together in a weekly changing menu. Current dishes include risotto with clams and kombu, spaghetti with caviar and miso butter, and wagyu with arancino and wasabi. Choose it when the hybrid is the point. It is not a substitute for a traditional sushi set.
The Nørrebro, Vesterbro and Østerbro rooms run from 11:30 to 21:00 daily for both the front and kitchen. The group does not take reservations at any location. The menu spans pork, spicy miso and vegetarian bowls, which makes the food decision broader than the single service window. Frederiksberg does not belong in the weekday lunch answer because it opens at 17:00 Monday to Friday; use one of the three all-day rooms instead.
Nozomi's central room is at Store Kongensgade 60 and opens from 12:00 to 22:00 every day. Its separate lunch menu offers fifteen combinations as well as the option to build a meal separately. Beyond sushi, the lunch menu lists seaweed salad, miso soup with tofu, and chicken or beef sticks. Nozomi gives a noon start but no separate lunch cutoff, so check directly before a later lunch.
Wami at Islands Brygge 81B runs from 12:00 to 22:00 every day. Its format is ad libitum across sushi, maki, sashimi and hot dishes. The menu highlights include nigiri, tempura and yaki udon with vegetables, cashews and egg, with chicken, beef or shrimp as the protein choice. Pick it when the appetite and unlimited format matter more than staying in the old centre.
For Monday, remove Restaurant Tokyo, Selfish, Admiralgade 26 and Damindra. For a 14:40 arrival, remove Damindra, Admiralgade 26 and Restaurant Tokyo; Selfish and both Slurp rooms still fit only if you go directly. For the earliest start, Sticks'n'Sushi is the one current kitchen in this comparison serving from 11:00.
For a traditional set, choose Restaurant Tokyo or Damindra. For sushi with a short dedicated lunch price, choose Selfish. For an unhurried all-day menu, Wami or Sticks'n'Sushi removes the pressure of a 14:00 cutoff. For a Saturday meal with its own ritual, Admiralgade 26 is the outlier.
At 11:30, the choice is still narrow. Sticks'n'Sushi has been open for half an hour, both Slurp rooms have just begun lunch, and Ramen to Bíiru is serving at Nørrebro, Vesterbro and Østerbro. On Saturday, Admiralgade 26 begins choushoku at the same time. The other set lunches have not opened yet.
At 12:15, every lunch in this guide that is operating on that day has begun. Damindra is the final one to start. That makes noon the cleanest comparison point, but the day still matters more than the clock: Restaurant Tokyo serves lunch only Thursday to Saturday, Selfish Tuesday to Saturday, and Admiralgade 26 only on Saturday.
At 14:30, the list starts collapsing. Damindra and Admiralgade 26 have ended lunch. Restaurant Tokyo closes its lunch kitchen at 14:30 even though the room's stated lunch period runs to 15:00. Selfish continues to 15:00, Nansensgade to 14:45 and Borgergade to 15:00. The all-day kitchens remain the least fragile choice.
After 15:00, this is no longer the same reader job. Sticks'n'Sushi, Ramen to Bíiru and Wami continue serving, but the dedicated lunch sets and both Slurp lunch windows have finished. Nozomi's room remains open, but it does not give a separate lunch cutoff. If a venue closes between lunch and dinner, its evening reopening does not rescue a late lunch plan.
A bowl is the most compact format. Restaurant Tokyo's gyuudon and curries, the daily noodle counters and Selfish's chirashi all arrive as one main decision. A bento or sushi set gives more components without turning lunch into a long sequence. Damindra and Selfish are the clearest current examples.
Admiralgade 26 is built around sharing. Rice, miso soup and egg sit at the centre, with greens and fish around them, so it makes more sense for a table prepared to slow down. Restaurant Levi also rewards sharing, but its Italian-Japanese menu is a crossover by design and should not be mistaken for a conventional Japanese set.
Wami's ad libitum format is about range and appetite. Nozomi's lunch menu covers sushi, soup and sticks, although it does not state a separate cutoff. Sticks'n'Sushi combines a bookable restaurant with sushi and grilled items. Those three solve the group decision differently from the small rooms and short lunch sittings.
Dietary needs deserve a direct source check rather than a cuisine-wide assumption. Slurp's veggie bowl can be made vegan without the egg. Other menus and kitchens handle allergens differently, so tell the venue before ordering and do not infer one restaurant's answer from another's.
If your real constraint is location rather than cuisine, use the separate Torvehallerne lunch guide. For a city-wide Japanese dinner comparison, use the live Japanese restaurants guide. Use this list when lunch, rather than dinner, is the decision.
Sticks'n'Sushi Nansensgade opens at 11:00, Slurp Nansensgade at 11:30, Restaurant Levi at 12:00, and Damindra at 12:15 on its lunch days. The choice runs from sushi and grilled sticks to ramen, bento and a Japanese-Italian lunch menu.
Both Slurp rooms, the Nørrebro, Vesterbro and Østerbro branches of Ramen to Bíiru, Nozomi Copenhagen K, Wami and Sticks'n'Sushi Nansensgade all open by midday every day. Check Nozomi directly if you plan to arrive later because it does not give a separate lunch cutoff.
Damindra serves bento and omakase at lunch from Tuesday to Saturday. Restaurant Tokyo serves rice bowls, curry and onigiri from Thursday to Saturday, while Admiralgade 26 serves choushoku with rice, miso soup, egg, greens and fish on Saturday.
Most dedicated lunch windows finish between 14:00 and 15:00. Damindra ends at 14:00, Restaurant Tokyo's kitchen closes at 14:30, and Selfish and Slurp Borgergade run to 15:00. Sticks'n'Sushi, Ramen to Bíiru and Wami continue into the afternoon.
